      What is Meowdoku?

Meowdoku is a cat-themed take on the classic Queens puzzle. You get a grid split into coloured regions, and you place one cat for every colour. Three rules have to hold at once:

On an N×N board there are always N colours and N cats, and a well-made puzzle has exactly one valid arrangement.

      How this solver works

Point it at a screenshot and it finds the grid, reads the colour of every tile, works out the regions and solves the board. Then it does something a plain solver does not: it works the puzzle a second time using only moves a person could follow, and explains each one in words — “every square still open for pale pink lies in row 1, so row 1 is spoken for”. Step through the whole solution, or skip straight to the answer.

There is no server and no upload. Reading the image, solving the puzzle and writing the explanation all happen in your browser, so nothing you drop in ever leaves your computer or phone — and it keeps working with the network switched off.
